The International Micro μ Festival turns sixteen and returns bigger than ever, without changing what has always made it special: short films, their creators and the audience that decides.
Sweet Sixteen
From 22 to 26 September 2026, Micro μ spreads across nine cities in Greece and abroad, with competition programmes, international films, student films, a tribute to Spanish-language cinema and a new, expanded educational programme.

Andigoni Bitsikokou

Born in Athens, Greece, she currently works at Brama Theatre in Goleniów, Poland, through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme, while pursuing a Master's degree in Creative Writing with a specialization in Screenwriting at the University of Western Macedonia. She has a degree in Theatre Studies from the University of the Peloponnese and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Media Production (Film Directing) from Queen Margaret University- Metropolitan College. She also holds an Advanced Harmony Certificate in Music Theory. Since 2021, she has been active in film directing and screenwriting, focusing on short films. Her student short film Cyber-Ex received three awards and was selected for both national and international film festivals. Her second short film, Crimson Horizon, continues its festival journey across Greece.She has directed music videos for independent artists and has worked as a video editor for television networks, as well as a freelancer in audiovisual productions. In 2019, she created the independent theatre group The Grains (Oi Kokkoi), through which she facilitates workshops in theatre games and improvisation.

Born in the Balkans, she currently lives in Europe. She studied at Panteion University and Stavrakos Film School. She has worked as an assistant director on Greek and international film, television, and commercial productions. Her work focuses on projects that lie between fiction and documentary, exploring the observation of the human experience. Her documentary Fatbardha has been selected and awarded at numerous Greek and international film festivals, receiving several distinctions, including the Favourite Documentary Award at the Micro μ Festival 2025. She is currently in production of her next short film, Angelina, My Love, while also developing the screenplay for her first feature film.

He was born in Thessaloniki in March 1975. After attending the School of Technological Applications of the educational institute of Piraeus, he dealt with art. In 2005 he graduated from the Drama School of G. Theodossiades in Athens and he began practicing as an actor in theater, television and cinema. At the same time, since 2007, he has been working on the production and organization of artistic events and plays in Athens. Since 2011 he has been the manager of KATOPRON SA, through which he created the Micro μ short film festival, which is held for the last nine years in Greece and abroad. He is a member of the Hellenic Actors' Association and quite active in the field despite his continuοus involvement in the festival.

Antonis Kounellas

Cinematographer from Athens. He is a graduate of the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts and the Film Department of IEK AKMI. From the early years of his professional career, he worked on more than twenty film productions in Greece and abroad, gaining valuable experience at every stage of film production. He subsequently dedicated himself to working as a Director of Photography, signing the cinematography of feature and short films, television series, documentaries, commercials, and music videos.
His work has been presented and recognized at international film festivals, receiving a total of 23 international awards for cinematography and technical excellence. His filmography includes productions such as Serres, Mavro Rodo, Oi Pantheoi, Dolls of Dresden, and The Atlantis Puzzle, while he continues to collaborate with Greek and international filmmakers on film and television productions. His cinematic approach is characterized by an emphasis on the power of visual storytelling, naturalistic lighting, and the creation of atmosphere, with the aim of ensuring that every image meaningfully serves the story.
Aris Georgiou

Born in Athens, Greece, he studied Cultural Technology and Communication at the University of the Aegean, continued his studies at the European Film College in Denmark, specializing in Documentary Directing, and completed a Master's degree in Culture & Documentary Production. In 2011, he founded the arts magazine KOLAZ, followed by the production company FISH FILMS in 2012, working as a director, producer, and director of photography on commercial, corporate, and music productions. He has collaborated with leading advertising agencies and international brands, and in 2025 directed and served as Director of Photography for the television programme Pame Mia Volta, hosted by Niki Lyberaki on MEGA TV. His debut short film, Me Lene Semeli (My Name Is Semeli), won the Best Film Award at the Micro μ Festival 2025 and received further distinctions at Greek film festivals.
Yannis Zafiris

Born in Athens, Greece, he studied Graphic Design and Photography, focusing on conceptual self-portraiture and the landscape as a dramaturgical tool. Influenced by the works of Tarkovsky, Antonioni, and Kiarostami, combined with his participation in filmmaking seminars, he developed a distinctive cinematic approach rooted in a new poetic realism. In 2015, he directed his first short film, Rizoma (Rhizome), followed by Episkepsi (The Visit), SpringtimeRest, and Plastic Flowers, which received awards at 42 film festivals worldwide. He has worked on independent productions in creative and production roles, served on festival juries in Greece and abroad, and is currently developing the screenplay for his first feature film.
Michalis Gkiokas

He was born, unbeknownst to himself, on a night in 1983. One summer afternoon in 1994, he read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley while listening to Superunknown by Soundgarden—an experience that has arguably left him with a lingering post-traumatic stress ever since.
Equally fascinated by causality and the transcendental, he chose not between the two but both, earning a degree in Automation Engineering while keeping his true focus on the poetry of the moving image.
For the past 19 years, he has preferred the professional title "Digital Visual Effects Technician*" and firmly rejects being called an artist. He lives with two cats, and occasionally, a third one drops by.
P.S. He is also a cinephile.
Polymnia Papadopoulou-Sardeli

Polymnia is a Greek producer and line producer and the founder of Kalibu Productions. With more than fifteen years of experience in international film, television, documentary, and commercial productions, she specializes in production services, logistics, location management, and complex on-location filmmaking across Greece. Her work includes projects for major international clients and broadcasters, as well as numerous award-winning short films screened at festivals worldwide. In addition to her production work, she is actively involved in advancing sustainable practices within the audiovisual industry through research, training, and the development of innovative tools for greener filmmaking. Based in Athens, Polymnia continues to support filmmakers and international productions by building meaningful collaborations that connect storytelling, production excellence, and cultural exchange.

He holds an M.A. from the Open University of Cyprus and a B.A. in Film Studies from the University of Greenwich. In 2020, he served as a teaching assistant to Ana Sanz Magallón at the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI). Since 2017, he has run his own production company, specializing in documentaries, fiction films, and commercials. He directed the award-winning short film CLOUD (2019), which received the Favourite Film Award at the Micro μ Festival 2020, as well as episodes of the television series Without Question (2016–2017, ERT2), Es Avrion ta Spoudaia (2022–2023), and Marathon: The Miracle of Water (2025) for the ERT2 programme Discovering the World. His filmography focuses on social issues and family relationships under pressure, exploring the fears and hopes of the human soul.

Orestis Rouskas

Based in Athens, Greece, he holds a Master's degree in Cultural Management from the Department of Communication, Media and Culture at Panteion University. He has worked in film productions as an assistant director and script supervisor. He served as Production Manager of the Animasyros International Animation Festival in 2024 and 2025. Additionally, he was responsible for production coordination for the first conference of the International Centre of Films for Children and Young People (CIFEJ) in Athens, in May 2025. His latest short film, Smirida, Marble and Vine (2025), premiered at the Drama International Short Film Festival and received the Documentary Award at the Chania Film Festival. From February to May 2026, he collaborated with ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Germany as a Guest Artist, where he directed the short documentary film What is Mars for you?. He currently works as a film programmer at the Micro μ Festival and is developing his next fiction short film, titled PINK SKY.
